Aaja Deptford is a full spectrum, independent music venue and community radio based in South East London with a strong focus on community engagement, culture and inclusion. My role in the project was to design an adaptable space that caters to the diversity of events/performances that the space hosts. Located in a rapidly changing area and recently regenerated site, I collaborated with the directors and local residents to create a space that faces the change and aims to unite the ‘new and old Deptford’ through its music and cultural heritage.
Aaja Deptford is part of the Mayor for London’s Creative and Cultural Enterprise Zone, and collaborates with local projects/businesses such as The Albany Theatre, Shapes Lewisham, and Deptford X on community engagement and cultural projects.
